Build a stronger CV via gap year activities

Gap year activities can help people build up their CVs, increasing their options further along the line, it has been suggested.

Speaking to the KY Kernel, accounting and Spanish student Callie Thomas said she intended to take a gap year after university for the sake of life experience.

She explained that participating in voluntary work abroad, or a gap year adventure, may demonstrate that she is a more rounded person.

And with Callie aiming to secure entry to a postgraduate Law School, this may be important.

She suggested that undergraduate experience alone may not be sufficient to secure a place at the legal training centre of her choice.

So while fun may be one of the principle benefits of a gap year, taking time out may also offer career advantages, Callie claimed.

Last month, Beverley Woodhams, head of central recruitment at the University of Greenwich, said students should highlight ways in which their gap year has proved beneficial in their personal statement.
