Sri Lanka: Volunteer in an 'exotic paradise'

Sri Lanka: Volunteer in an 'exotic paradise'

Volunteers who head to Sri Lanka during their gap year can enjoy a wealth of amazing landscapes and spectacular scenery, it has been claimed.

According to iWantSun.co.uk, the island nation - which lies off the southern tip of India - boasts gorgeous coastal areas and picturesque valleys.

The country is an "exotic paradise" with aesthetic appeal in abundance, the news provider stated.

However, the country is also relatively poor, with many villages lacking access to basic amenities - particularly since the Boxing Day tsunami in 2004.

The disaster resulted in a considerable loss of life and caused substantial damage all across the island, iWantsun.co.uk added.

As such, there are a multitude of opportunities for people to participate in voluntary work abroad in Sri Lanka.

"There are a range of different projects that you can get involved in, so there should be something suitable no matter your interests or how much work experience you have," the news provider stated.

There are various education, community, conservation and zoological projects for gap year participants to get involved in, the site noted.

"For a wonderful gap year spent doing worthwhile voluntary work in a tropical paradise, Sri Lanka will offer everything you could possibly need," it added.

A number of Year Out Group members organise gap year projects in Sri Lanka, including GVI, Frontier Conservation, Gapguru, i to i Volunteering, Outreach International, Project Trust, Real Gap Experience, Worldwide Experience, Projects Abroad and Travellers Worldwide.
