Foreign & Commonwealth Office launches new online travel planning resource for schools

Spring may be officially around the corner but the winter's extended cold spell is inspiring many Brits to seek overseas sunshine.  ABTA, reported a 27% increase in bookings at the start of February compared with the same time last year, in a promising sign for the travel industry

The FCO recently partnered with ABTA to investigate where Brits will be holidaying in 2010.  The Travel Trends Report showed more travellers will be combining charity fundraising and overseas adventure this year.  This 'chadventuring', is certainly gaining popularity among younger travellers.

However, the FCO's research revealed that four in ten (37%) young travellers still rely on good luck rather than good insurance.  The FCO's response was to launch an exciting new Sixth Form online resource to help teachers explore the importance of pre-holiday planning at a time when many young people will be planning their first independent trip abroad.  Year Out Group is a partner in the FCO's Know Before You Go campaign and is helping to spread the word about this free online resource which can be found at www.fco.gov.uk/schools.
